Actually they didnt make that either... It was a dealer option for a 3/4 ton crew/short bed. There is no factory crew cab, short bed dually or any short bed dually at all.

You're absoultely right. They would never make a 1 ton truck at 120" of wb....too short to pull the amount of weight that a 1 ton is capable of.

I'll add My 2 cents here.
The main reason for not making a short bed dually is because the main function of a dually is to pull a 5'th wheel or a gooseneck. Now suppose You need to turn real sharp well with a short bed odds are You might hit the cab also known as jackknifeing.

are you sure? I think they did right around 98. I remember looking at it on the chevrolet homepage and i dont think the homepage would show a dealer installed option as a factory vehical. thats what i wanted my parents to get.

This is easy to prove, show me an RPO number. You can't because there isnt any. Now am I saying that GM never produced such a thing, well never say never. What I am saying is that if YOU ever saw one, it was a dealer added option.

So what did the dealer do?? Buy one tons and shorten them?? My dad had a 98 3500 4x4 shortbox crewcab dualie. It was black. and one hell of a sweet truck. Sure as heck looked factory to me. It had a proper dualie width axle and the door sticker was rated at the proper 10,000 gvw. which a 3/4 ton wouldnt. Sold it a couple years ago. It was great for haulin the 5th wheel.

I see two shortbed CC duallies on a regular basis around here, I'm guessing they are late-90's models. I very much doubt this was a dealer installed option.

Hmmm, Kelley Blue Book lists the option of a 1999 (which would still be the old body style) 3500 crewcab dually shortbed. Not saying that KBB is the definitive source, but I doubt they would have a dealer installed option in their database......

Show me an RPO... I was a salesman at Glen Grant Chevrolet from 97 to 99. GM authorized a couple of vendors to make Crew Cab S10s and the Crew Cab short beds (half tons and light 3/4 tons) LONG before these were factory RPO options. GM also authorized a vendor to build Crew Cab short bed duallys and sell them at GM dealers. They are NOT factory builds.
