When my rear end locked up, i was going about 40, and the gears melted together, or something like that happened so that the rear end stopped turning. The tranny still tried to turn though, as long as I had my foot on the gas, which wasn't really that long. Also, with it locked up, I tried to drive a little, so the torque converter was probably slipping there too. Also, at the brake place, they slammed it into park to get it to stop, becasue of no brakes. This tranny has a little more than 1K on the rebuild, has a 12/12 warranty on it. Any advice on what I should do? I know none of this stuff helpoed it, so chances are the next rebuild won't be far away. Should I take it back to the shop, or just wait and see what happens, and hope that whe nit happens it is still within the warranty period?

It wasnt good for it, but its no different than locking the brakes up. The shop slamming it into park was pretty dumb, but as long as they didnt break the parking pin, you ought to be OK. (You would know if it broke cause it would roll when in park.)

Yeah, I think you'll be O.K. too. The converter took the beating when the rear end locked up, and it is designed to slip when not "locked" up 1:1. So it just had to slip a bit more than normal for a short piriod of time. Shouldn't be a big deal.

If the parking pawl works O.K. now, then that should be all-right aswell.
