What is a good diesel additive that some of you fellow K5ers use.

Pricing varies, I think I paid $20 for 1/2 gal.
I started with a "One Shot" from them and saw how much it used and just kept refilling it from the bigger container becasue it was very close to my tank size of 31 gallons. Your useage may vary.

Go there and find a dealer in your area and call for pricing and more info.

I use it about every other tank, but thats becuse I don't have a fuel guage and fill up to make sure I don't run out of fuel. If you knew how much you have in your tank you can figure it out. My little "One Shot" was for 30 gallons. I have a 30 gallon tank and I fill up about half way so I only needed it every other time. You can do it more or less. Just need to play with it and find your mixture!!

It is the best and not that much per tank. They also make John Deere's for them.

Have you ever used Marvel Mystery oil? I used it for 14 years on a little isuzu diesel and it helped get rid of the black somke and keep my mileage at 35 for the life of the vehicle.

desertrat67: No...I have never tried that stuff. Was the stuff rated for Diesels? Was it the stuff that went in the fuel or the oil?

Stanadyne has the best reviews. Marvel MO works great too. So does a qt of tranny fluid every once in awhile. The problem with Marvel and tranny fluid is that it turns your fuel red which is the color of "off highway use only" fuel (according to the EPA). Buy Stanadynes Performance stuff.

It works pretty good. you can put it in your fuel and oil with every change. I used it for years in an 82 isuzu P'UP with a 2.2L engine that would smoke like hell after 3000 miles, but do an oil change and add the Marvel and it would run clean for about 1500 then slowly start up again. My Granpa was a trucker for about 40 years and used it in every tank.

The best diesel additive is the one from LE called DCI+. It has everything that a diesel additive should have.
    lubricity additive
    diesel combustion improver
    an ashless detergent dispersant
    an oxidation inhbitor
    a pour point depressant
    rust and oxidation inhibitors
    metal deactivators
and it has been proven to improve fuel mialage by an average of 7.4% in a 5 fleet 113 truck test.

In the past year I have investigated 8 additives and written 5 articles on which one was the best. The LE DCI+ came out on top and seems to do everything in one additive. Some additives work well but only do one thing like lubricate or have a Cetane improver, but the LE DCI+ is the only one that does it all. The company that sells it is Mag-Hytec at 1-818-786-8325

The price is just over $7.00 per pint and it treats 125 gallons or about 4 oz for a 32 gallon fillup.

Good luck and I hope I've helped.
