Does anybody else think it would be a good idea to have a diesel FAQ on this site? Something that covers the 2 common questions:

What gearing should I run with my 6.2 and (whatever) tires?

How do I check/replace my glowplugs and how do I install a manual controller?

Is there already such a thing here and I just don't know about it?

We should throw in, "what kind of mileage would I get with a 6.2?" and "how much power will it have?" There must be at least 30 different posts that ask those questions...some of mine included. Oh yeah, and the venerable, "should I buy a Diesel or get a gasser?" I think we all know the answer to that one. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

You might post that, but it's a BS answer. That site is good info (and it is definately worth the money), but it doesn't answer the question presented.

I think it would be a good idea if only because it seems most of the gearing/tire stuff I find is based on gas engines and their power/torque/etc. Just my $.02 /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

    Hi there
in response to your gearing/ tire question, it's always up to you and your purpose for the truck.
If you want to tow or go off road, you want to go deep but if you just want to drive around you can afford tall gears with a diesel because most of the power is right off idle so you can easily use it.
Example GM had a standard 3.73 for gas engines but 3.08 for diesels.
I run 35"/3.08 on my diesel and I use it for trails I practicaly idle all the way.

Hey, thanks. My truck mostly sees high speed highway use, then off road. I do not do any city driving with it. I have 37s. It's a hard decision, I like to be able to bury the speedo, but I also want good off-road gears.

    Anybody else have any suggestions?
