We have a great group of guys here that are very knowledgable. I'm wondering if any of you would care to do some basic tech write-ups?

I think if we had a few articles up it would make this forum a bit more of a resource.

    Here are some suggestions:

    Manual glow plug controller
Purging air from the fuel system
    Basic diagnostics for newbie's
Maybe a basic spec's write up...

Of course your suggestions are more than welcome!/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

One that included standard gearing and transmissions on Diesels (but you'd have to break down by Truck, Blazer, etc)...as well as AVERAGE fuel mileage, HP and torque numbers. Just having that info alone would be a blessing.

    Thanks Casey! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I asked Steve if he wanted a hand with this forum...and he made me a moderator. I had a few ideas too...the tech articles was one of them.

So lets get some ideas up. What do you guys want to see in this forum? What would be useful, or more interesting?

That's great. I know you'll be a great moderator. It's good to have some one watching over us here in the diesel forum now, especially since this place is growing all the time.

I already have an article I wrote on how to change out a fuel lift pump that I know others have found useful.

I think it would be great to have it where we can keep adding articles all the time, as we get them written.

    Eric,

Care to volunteer? I'd prefer if it wasn't something copied from the Diesel page/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Options, gearing, power spec's etc would all be nice.
Even some basic trivia like "first year for the 6.2", common fuel tank sizes (K5 and pick-ups) that sort of stuff. Something a new owner of a deisel Chev is going to find useful.

If you can find it and bump it to the top I can make it sticky...or Copy and paste the article as a new post. (please/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)

I'll certainly do my best, both for Steve and for us that use this forum. I'm open to any suggestions... /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

I think I could do that. I'll have to find some time...maybe this Sunday... to start working on it. If people can PM with the stuff they want to see in the Specifications article.
    So far:
    1. Years with 6.2 available
    2. years with 6.5 available
    3. Gas tank sizes
    4. I'll try to find gearing and options
    5. Power numbers
    6. Uhhh, how about mechanical vs. Electrical pumps and years.
Please send me any of this info you guys have, I have some of it, and it will cut down on my research time.

Let me know what other info you want to see in it.

Well I'm working 6 nights a week (10hour shifts with 1 hour drive each way). I am hoping to actually start in May. It may be June though. My planning is waivering on the frame and axles, scenario 1 is keep the suburban frame and swap only the rear for a 14FF and 8 lug the front 10bolt, scenario 2 is keep the burb frame and go 14FF and front D60, and scenario 3 is put everything on a 1 ton frame with 14ff/d60. I have decided on my axle ratio, it will be 3.73. I will be at 2014rpm at 75mph and 1745rpm at 65 on 35's.

Hey Congrats on the new title.
About those write-ups, all the info you mentionned is already there, we just need to put them in a nice write-up, so Eric, if you do a search on those items you listed, I know they are there, I read them in the past few months.
There is also one more thing you could add to the list: Propane injection. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I will make a few searches and send you links to them Eric.

    Issaam,

I know most of the info is posted here, but I also know how much time it can take to search and actually find what you're looking for. Searching effectively is half 'art' and half 'luck', the sucess really depends on accurate post titles and correctly guessing useful search parameters...

I would love to see an article on Propane injection, whether it's home brew or kit form or whatever. Even just some general info or theory would be good. Care to give it a shot??
