How are the rules on diesels..do they need emission tests? If anyone knows how it is in Finland I'd be glad to know those rules too. Why I need to know? Because Baby's going to her first annual vehicle test (at least, that's how my glossary explains it) since I bought her.

In Arizona, Maricopa county the emmissions is: pedal to the metal, check for particulates - you're done.

No emissions test in Missouri. Only $12 vehicle safety inspection every two years. Hope it stays that way!

All vehicles registered after '78 have to take the emission test.
Make sure you have new air filter and oil changed.
First they take idle rpm,and max rpm. After that, they rev engine to the limiter for 3 seconds(you can't do it,inspector does),three or four times.I passed it last year with only one run(rebuild injection pump /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif)
    I don't know what's it called,opacity?,but that value must be under 2.5 on N/A engines,and under 3.0 on turbo charged.Mine was somewhere near 1.5.

BTW,it sounds horrible when they run engine to limiter without load /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

No emissions test for diesels in Tennessee. No safety checks either. Just go in and tell it is a diesel. Here's your stidker or tags.

What does N/A stand for? I know that it doesn't stand for Not Available (As it does is my ICQ)

It means naturally aspirated, not forced induction.

No smog here in California /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
I am not sure it's for long though, there is a Bill that will require everything up to 40 years old to be smogged, even Diesel, motorCycles,...
