Like the subject says. Are they basically the same? Payload the same?
I have heard there is a brake size difference.
    Spring perch width difference.

Is this true and is there any other differences?

I'm not sure about the load rating, but the brakes are different as well as the spring perchs. The 1 ton has the larger brakes, 3.5 inch drums (I believe, corrrect me if I'm wrong) and the 3/4 ton has 2.5 inch drums. There are kits to put disks on there though. The perches are closer together on the 1 ton axle as well.

Spring perch difference is the biggest one. I have seen 3/4 tons with the bigger and smaller drums so just depends on what you get. I think everything else is the same.

i bought the 3/4 ton 14ff because the spring perches line up perfectly. I did not want to have to relocate the perches from the 1 ton. Other than that, its just the brake difference you mentioned.

I thought the 14B 3/4 ton was the SF 9.5" and the 1 ton was the FF 10.5 gear /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Some 3/4 tons had the SF but most I think have the FF. the semi Floater is kind of a heavy half or light duty 3/4 ton I think.

I snagged my 14bff with the 10.5" ring gear and factory locker from a 2wd 3/4 ton pick up. Bolted right in the '89 Burb. the only thing i had to do was get the conversion u-joint.
