difference between Warn and Randy\'s 4340 axle shafts

they are made from the same stuff, but the ones from www.randysringandpinion.com are way cheaper ($606 vs. $337) . i havent found out if randys has a warranty though.

any thoughts or opinions??????

thanks rob

Biggest difference is that right now Warn shafts exist. Randy shafts do not.
To clarify, randy's are on a boat right now and are still months away from being ready to sell.
I too was really excited about the price because warn's are just about prohibitively expensive. Randy's are going to be a part I'll be happier selling. It makes it worth upgrading a D44 rather than swapping it out.
Technically what I know is that they're forged 4340, has to be similar to the warns, there's not many ways to mash the metal into the right shape. Warranty is on the shaft itself, they make no claims whatsoever on the ears. That's about all at this point.
We'll know more when they're actually available.

You sure they are not available? I thought I read about somebody on POR having a set. Hmmmm Maybe it was another company...Superior maybe? I think they have some out and also have a set of strong U-Joints.

I called Randy's this afternoon to order a set and they still don't have them.
I buy all my gear sets from them and always deal with one guy and tried to pull a favor in to get a set now and he said that he was truly sorry but they just don't have them yet.
So Steven it looks like i'll be running stock 44 axles in Moab. I'll try not to hold you guys up too much.

They have the early stubs in stock, but the others are a few months or more out! So frustrating they need them now! LOL

Big problem is the advertising hit before the parts did. Maybe that's good for them in some way?
Don't worry about the D44, I still haven't seen one spontaneously explode when it hit the dirt. Cutting the stockers for the rings is a good idea, loose ears is one of the big problems with them. You can do it with a nice new sharp wheel on a hand grinder if you want. I did that to my old set and it worked well. Finished making everything flat with a hand file.

Well, I called today and they still don't have em. There's no definite time frame for when they're gonna be in either. That pretty much sucks, I was ready to order the alloys, a lockright, and forged spicer joints today. Oh well, hopefully they'll be in soon...

If I break this front it should be just in time for the rockwells. A couple guys at work know some serious tricks on making this a serious diff
