Difference in timing chain cover?

    My buddy went with me to get his blazer to pass Smog with his blazer, and he failed because he had a different timing chain cover on it! wtf? Is there a diff between car and truck timing chain cover?

    Why would they look at the timing chain cover?

    Maybe he had a chrome one on it, and the saw that it wasn't stock. I can't think of anything else differnt.
