I've been looking around at Dana 60 front axles lately and noticed about 3 different time periods they are listed under. So far I have seen them listed from '73-81', '82-'87, and '88--91. All of these axles are Chevy fronts. Is there a difference between the D60s from the different time periods? Which one is most desirable?

77 was the first year for a GM truck with a D60.

The 77 - 80 axles would originally been equipped with tapered inner axle shafts.

As far as 81 - 91 I don't what differences there may be in these axles. I've seen and had quite a few but never noticed any difference in this year range.
