I'm running a Vortec 350 with an Edelbrock performer intake a Carter carb and a factory HEI. I want to replace my junkyard HEI. What would be a good distributor for this setup? I don't want anything too fancy, but I want to upgrade. I want to keep it under $200.
Thanks

Back in '95 I bought an Accel Blueprint series HEI unit. I have been very happy with it and no problems. Just like a GM HEI but basically brand new and higher tolerances (supposedly) ...oh yeah, $142

http://www.summitracing.com offers two models. I got the simple one. It's got a 45KV coil, that's more than you'll ever need offroading. The expensive offers adjustable timing advance and has polished parts.

MSD has some pretty gnarly looking stuff. I'm running there super conductor wires with the Delco HEI and the wires helped alot!

IMO I'd shell out the extra for a MSD. Always the best... otherwise go w/ a new one from GM w/ a MSD coil. I have used Accel and never had a problem (had a 300+ Ignition) but have heard a lot of bad stories... especially w/ distributors... Probably is like other cheap stuff-hit or miss. Have also heard great reviews of DUI distributors from http://www.performancedistributors.com. Think they run about 270 last time I looked.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to go for an MSD.
