i just got a 350. the rockers are just bolted on enough to keep them from falling off and getting lost. a few of them are tight and the rest arent. is there some special way that im supposed to tighten them?

Yes, but it depends on if you are running a hydraulic or solid cam and lifters.

They give a descent description of how to do the adjustment of both, depending on which type you have. Click at the bottom on hydrolic or solid/mechanical

Ther are prolly several dozen ways to do this but I will tell ya how I do it.
I start at the #1 cyl and I use the intake opening exhaust closing method.
Meaning when the intake rocker is opening I adjust the exhaust rocker and roll the engine over until the exhaust is starting to close and adjust the intake.
To adjust them I run the rocker nut down while spinning the pushrod in my finger until there is a SLIGHT restistence felt and then I give it a 1/4 turn more.
As I said there is alot of ways to do this and every one has there own way of doing it.
