I was told they are like the TTY head bolts. Thanks for the help Mike
I have seen reference to the TTY head bolts before in posts, but my GM service manuals DO NOT say that head bolts must be replaced after each use. The manual only says to clean them with a wire brush after removal, before reassembly. The torque spec in the manual says take them to 20ftlbs, then 50 ftlbs, then an additional 90 degrees. While the torque method is similar to the way TTY bolts are tightened, it does not necessarily mean that the bolt has started to yield in this case. I'm new to the 6.2, but both my GM manuals (82 and 88) say the same thing. Am I missing something?
Replace them, they are TTY or torque to yield
