    Jiminy's right, the engine's not as important as the brakes, you want to take it slow on the way up anyway to enjoy the scenery.

    Do a lot of people drive up there and get sick? Seems like a lot of altitude really fast.

    He might get a little elevation headache, just chew gum on the way up.

    If you had been on a dive then flown in directly for a drive up Pikes Peak then I'd say the chances would be good. Kansas to Pikes Peak though, probably not.

    I touched the brakes a whole 10 times going down. Most was in the lower paved section when I could go faster than 15 mph comfortably.

    Max speed going up: ~47 MPH
    Max speed going down: ~55 MPH

    Average speed on the upper 1/2 going up: 15-25 MPH
    Average speed going down the upper half: 10-15 MPH

    Going up is definately faster than going down.
