For our club spring break trip we are going to Las Cruces, New Mexico and we don't want to drive our trucks 750 miles. My roomate has a diesel and we have access to 32 foot goose neck that has 2 10,000 pound axles. My question is do we need a CDL if we put my blazer and his bronco on the trailer??? This is in the state of Texas if that helps. Thanks

    Call the DMV and ask.
Every state I have lived in has different rules.
Generaly you do not need a CDL unless the rig has air brakes.
Some states have different classes of regular licences though.

If the gross weight exceeds 26,001 lbs you will need a CDL. (class B) You also have to have $500,000 in property damage insurance in most states.

I'm not sure either, but look at the size of travel trailer's that some people pull.

Need a little more info to answer that.
    1. Diesel= Semi tractor or diesel pickup like 3/4 or one ton?
    2. Is it just pleasure trip or is it a contest like rockcrawling where you have the possibility of winning money?

With the answers to these questions I will let you know what is needed. CDL, Logbook, Equipment on Vehicle.

i would just call the DMV or look them up online and ask. Better to spend 30secs asking than get pulled over and ticketed for not having one.

26001 lbs and air brakes is the standard. Most massive motorhomes don't require CDL's to drive them. Anything over 1 ton does require a health card though. You should contact each states DMV tat you will be in tho just to be sure.

CDL required for 26,001 pounds and over. However if the trip is only recreational and there is no prize money or trophies or any compensation to be gained then no CDL is required. If the Diesel is a Semi. ie truck tractor it will have to comply with vehicle requirements. Fire extinguisher, triangles, annual inspection, and so on.

If you want PM me with specifics.
