A buddy of mine has a Full time Dana 60 from a dodge truck (front axle of course). He said he would give it to me for free if I want it. Would it be worth converting? How much do you think it would cost to convert it? What would need to be converted?

If it's the open knuckle king pin type take it. All you should need for a "part time" axle is locking hubs. Very easy.

if it is as he says you can get some bucks for the drive slugs from hard core rock crawlers.
even if you had to swap the whole hub...

    again must be OPEN KNUCKLE
