    Depending on who you ask where I grew up...

    breakfast = breakfast
    lunch = diner
    dinner = supper

    Can get very confusing! I don't go by that system. I do call the evening meal supper though. Lunch is lunch.

    Agree with Bubba. It goes like this: Breakfast in the morning, then Dinner at noonish, and Supper in the evening... /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

    Funny thing is that in the miltary everyone calls it something different so you've got 20 people, half are eating lunch, some noon meal, some dinner, who knows wtf they're eating.

    I eat breakfast in the morning.
    Lunch comes mid-day.
    Then, I eat dinner or supper in the evening (my family uses the term interchangeably)

    And, when we have company over for Thanksgiving or Christmas (or go out to eat for these occasions) and eat the main meal at around 2pm, we call that "brunch"...go figure, a word combination of breakfast and lunch, yet it comes between lunch and dinner/supper.

    But, then again, I'm from the Midwest and we do things different in this area.
    Soda will always be soda to me...not pop.
    And, water fountains...can't say I've ever called one a water fountain...they're "bubblers." /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

    Here in Northern Wisconsin, we call it supper, unless it is a more formal occasion or going out to eat, as you have mentioned, referring to it as dinner. The meal I'm the most concerned about is breakfast, the best meal of the day.

    Breakfast, dinner, supper for me.

    Although, I've had to adapt to calling it lunch for business reasons. Clients get real confused when you look at your watch around 11:30am and ask them if they want to get some dinner. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
