After today I despise them. When I get my eaton rear I will pay the extra $300 to convert to disc just for the convenience

Yep...just about the worse thing to change on a vahicle...besides the damn tranny fluid if theres no drain plug.
I dont understand why manufacturers havent converted for 4 wheel disks. I dont see how it can be cheaper to contine mfg cars with drums.

when i put new brake cylinders in the rear of my 79, ipulled the drum off and the springs. but i left the rest in place. it was faster but still sucked. that's why i love my 2000 super duty, it has 4 wheel disc. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

I've changed so many GM drum brakes that I can do it blindfolded in the dark with nothing but a pair of pliars. Seriously.

However, I believe that drum brakes were obsolete 30 years ago and have no idea how/why they survived so long... It can't possibly be that much cheaper to manufacture drums than rotors. For the benefits that discs offer, I just don't understand why drums are still around.

    Cheers,
    Scott
