Does anyone have a line on cheap SS boat propellers?

I need to buy a spare prop for the Sea Ray, but anything made of stainless is close to $1000:eek1: :eek1: :eek1: up here. Hopefully a member of the Brotherhood can help fix me up with something a wee bit more affordable.

I was looking at 4 or 5 blade 19' props. The boat presently has a Merc High Five and I'm REALLY happy with it. Unfortunately, they cost about $1100 up here. A comparable 4-blader will still run me about $850.

There are a few places online that sell props, but they're all based in the US and I'd take a ****kicking in duties, tax and shipping if I went that route. Of course, if someone was to sell me a "used" prop and ship it to me, I would be able to avoid all that crap.......

I've seen them on ebay relatively affordable ($250-300 US) for the 4 blade stillettos and the like. Keep an eye out now that the season is winding down in a good chunk of the US (and most of Canada I'd imagine), they'll be out there and the bidding will be slower.

I'll keep an eye out here, I see the two brothers that own the local boat dealership at least once a week, sometimes they'll sell used ones to people they know fairly cheap.

I've already checked his stuff out, but I'm not sure how much I would end up paying in duties on a new prop. Shipping is only +/- $25 USD, so that's not a big deal.

Believe it or not, that same prop costs $1100 at the local boat shop.:doah:

People ask me all the time to mark an item as Gift so they can avoid the import fees. You can also play with the value table.
