does anyone know anything about cams?

    i need to replace the timing set in my 1989 suburban but alot of them say "not for use with factory roller cam." do i have a roller cam? it's a 1989 tbi 350 STOCK.

    You should be ok with non roller if your engine is stock for that vehicle.Rollers were used in the high performance applications.

    You should be fine with a nonroller setup. A quick call to the jegs or summit techline should help. With your engine being the one that came factory in your truck, they should be able to recommend a timing set the will fit correctly. I would strongly reccommend a double roller because it only costs a fraction more, yet has a much stronger chain.

    i dont think your engine has a roller cam now.

    TBI trucks usually don't have roller cams.

    Cars from 87-95 DID though.

    If it's the stock motor, it will probably NOT have a roller cam.
