No you are not blind and no they dont make a 12 inch lift for a 72. They only make an 8 inch lift. Trust me i looked all over when i put 44 under mine i had to go to a local spring shop in Sacramento to get 15 inch lift. 1 FN HI K5

If you don't mind telling me. About how much $$$$$ did it take to do you lift? I am asking because this truck is my daily driver right now so if I am going to do this I have to have it back together quick. Thanks for the info.

It rides smoother than my father-in-law's 76 jimmy with a six inch lift with 35's.
I like the way it rides you dont need a kedney belt. LOL 1 FN HI K5

ive heard the superlift swamprunner 12" lift for 73-87 chevys work on the 1 gens to they just don't list it for it. but i would go with national or denver custom packs for the best ride and you don't need to stop at 12" if you want.

the eye to eye lenth is too long on 73's. maybe it wouldnt be so severe with a 12 in lift. I can tell you the 4 in lift from a 73 hammered the frame of my 72. I need to repair small cracks under the shacle bushing hanger, from the springs hammering the frame.

you could fox that problem by adding just a hair longer shackle for oru probably. me and a couple of guys put (2)superlift 12inch packs together for my friends show truck it ended up with about 19inches of lift. but the front shaft wouldn't reach for nutthin and it rode reallllll bad! we pretty much did it just for fun.

Re: Does anyone still make a 12\" lift for a 1972?

True I could have made new shackles.... but they would have been about 8 inches long to give me any kind of frame clearance.(mine was only a 4 in lift)It would take one hell of a wedge to get my pinion out of the dirt. If I had it to do over I wouldn't... The correct lenghth springs made a world of difference in the way the truck behaves. The 73 springs also placed the axle too far back.

The steering wheel used to spin in my hands when I stepped on the brakes. It would stop in a strait line but the wheel would spin. besides... when I switched to the right spring I got a taller lift /forums/images/icons/cool.gif That lift sucked, but not as bad as being stock.

If the truck was MY daily driver I wouldn't put gen 2 springs on it.

It would be a great help if you could stop and ask them. If it is not a big inconvience. Do you still need the disk brake stuff?

i went by skyjackers office and talked to chris. he said the biggest they make now is an 8 inch lift. they do not have any old stock and are too busy to make anything special order. i left and went over to superlift. they are only like 3 miles apart. i talked to dave and he said they didnt offer a 12 inch lift and he didnt know anyone that did. they are also too busy to mess with a custom order. sorry i couldnt be more help.
