I'm doing my first lift on my 88 Jimmy. The kit is a Superlift 6" and I have a problem in the front. The spring shackles on the rear of the spring are sitting on a 45 degree angle and everything is about 1-2 inches pushed forward from where it belongs. Where did I go wrong??Is there an easy fix to getting the axle back to the middle of the wheel well?? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the springs were put in backwards or are not the correct ones.

BTW I have Superlift 4" springs on the front of my 89 and the pin is the same length from the front or the back and I would guess the 6" should be the same.

The springs were off of another K5 and installed them with the yellow print(frt end) to the front. I wish I could find the guy I bought them from.

Try this then. Jack the front end up and loosen everything back up and set the front end down on the ground and then tighten everything back up.

I tried that with the upper and lower shackle bolts but not anything else, I'll try just about anything at this point. Thanks for the input.

Can you get any pics of it posted so we can see if there is something wrong. If it came from another K5 it should work ok. My springs came from a 78 K5 and all I had to change was the front spring bushings and bolt.

What is coming up 1" to 2" short when you say everything is pushed forward?

With arch of the spring my rear shackles on the front springs are sitting at a 45 degree angle instead of 90 degree. Therefore, pushing the front axle forward in the wheel well, approximately 1-2inches. I think at this point I'm going to have to go back and take it apart. I was just wondering how I can maybe flatten out the springs to get the shackles back to a 90 degree angle.

I'd have to agree with the different model springs theory.

Have you tried putting the truck on the ground and then loosing the bolts. Also may help to get a friend or to to bounce on the front to aid in relaxing the spring.

I would first like to thank everyone for their input. I found the problem, and I don't think I'll be buying used parts again. I saw a number on the front springs(255) and referenced the number on Superlift's web-site and it came up as a spring set-up for a first generation Blazer thus being the wrong spring. I ordered the right one's today(01-235-6) and hopefully I'll be rollin' by next week. Once again, thanks for the help. If I find the guy I bought them off of he's going to get a set of springs though the back window of his I-Rock.
