I need to know on which year of burbs did the tailgaite turn on the dome lights. My 75 doesn't and I want to wire one in and I need to know where to put the switch. So pics would be great.

taz,i think they started as standard in 78-79 i could be wrong my 85 has the switch w/barn doors and i pulled the wires out and just added a toggle switch i like to leave the doors open to get at tools etc.i can always go out and take some measurements if you want.ive seen burbs without the switch in rear and they still have the plastic sort-a-oval plug where it goes.
    goodluck

I am not sure of the year that GM put the switch in, but I can help you with pics...

The switch is on the right side rear pillar, below the defroster/door lock terminals. I have cargo doors, so I would assume that the switch would be mounted somewhat lower for the tailgated versions. LMC has the switches..

    Hope that helps!

I have a tailgat on my 85 and it has a switch on the passenger side. It's not a plunger style, it kind of fold into the side when the tailgat is closed.
