    Don\'t look at me like i\'m stupid. . . BUT

    as a TEMPORARY VERY VERY TEMPORARY fix of ONROAD use. . . what would happen if for my driveshaft from a 203 going into a 241 i just welded the telescoping part locked at the right length? HYPOTHETICALLY for a day or two.

    just a question.

    first time you compressed/unloaded your suspension *somthing* would have to give, be it the welds, yoke, ujoint etc...

    I'd see the driveshaft just bending under the weight personally. It wouldn't work, if you could watch it every little bump in your suspension that thing moves.

    241 has a slip yoke....

    If the tranny has a slip jointm it should work?

    oh wait I think he is talking abotu cutting off the end and puting the slip yoke on then welding the telescoping shaft. i still wouldn't do that but thats better. Bowtie am I correct?

    yes- since the 241 has a slip yoke i need a solid shaft, and was wondering what would happen.

    not a good idea- now- anyone know the length of a sm465/241 combo so i can have my shafts made before i do the swap?

    Why not cap the tail shaft and drive on the fronts until you get a real shaft?

    i'm not really sure my 10 bolt is up to it. would that even work in just regular 4x4? or wouldn't it just spin the rear?

    not safe. Put it on the shelf for a few days and get your driveline reworked by a pro.

    doing 60 MPH on the freeway, the last thing you want letting loose is the driveline. Not sure how long yours is by my old one could have pitchforked me over, if i was unlucky enuff...

    ok- i just need the length of the combo, i'll have the shafts made this week.

    So do you have a 203 or a 241 in there right now? No rear shaft for it? If the front is open drive on the front shaft. If its a 241 get a plug for the output so you don't dump the ATF. Run in 4HI if its a 241 or HI Loc if its a 203. Even cars have some type of slip built into the shaft and look how straight their DLs are.

    i have a 203 in now. shafts are fine. i'm putting in a 241 with a slip yoke and need new shafts because of the slip yoke and different length, i just need some measurements if possible now, that's all.
