door repair

    I posted this in the 4x4 section but I'll put it here too. The area on the drivers door where the top door hinge attaches to the door is rusting out. What's the best way to repair short of replacing the door?

    This is a structural part, I would replace, easier and cheaper, but if you're up for some welding, you could put a patch from the inside.

    I agree...doors are too cheap not to go ahead and just replace them.

    Well if you think I am rich, just look at my pics /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
    Well I can get a door from the junkyards for less than $25.
    It will take me $10 worth of material and about a couple of hours to make a patch that is strong enough for a hinge support.
    And I would still have a patched door.
