I had a mild case of surface rust here and on the inner rocker area by the sill plate... I sanded it down and threw on a few coats of POR-15... AWSOME STUFF IMO! Has made it through the winter w/ absolutly no problems. The only rust on my truck is the driver's side rocker so I'm thinking of putting POR-15 on the rockers or on the backside before they get welded in.

If rust hasnt started there yet you best of with keeping it clean and giving it a coat or two with turtle wax every year. If you cover it upp with tectyl, rust will find a pore and start eating. And you will not see it til it's bubling through!
