And starter fried. Got to a stop sign, and it wound up to eleventy-billion mph, and held there until it smoked to death and died. :( I think I'm going to buy a fire extinguisher.

    Bought a creeper. :D

Stickers here as well. Will apply tomorrow.

    Sore from pushing truck. Backwards.

Starter is much larger than anticipated. Scared. Need to borrow Ratch's helmet.

Tech! TECH! TECH IN THE LOUNGE!!!

I am convinced that GM starters are the antichrist reincarnate. I only buy AC Delco ones now, and haven't had to replace any of those.

It's still like benchpressing a 40# steel football, laying in the mud, with dirt and oil falling on your face.

'Course, the next one I do I'm doing with the engine out of the truck ;)

Make sure you drop the starter and place your hand on the leaf spring so it crushes your fingers. Do that atleast 3 times

Have fun, and don't forget to produce showers of sparks by not disconnecting the battery and shorting everything out with your wrench at least three times. :D

Been there, done that, too many times, just to try and save time from disconnecting the battery cable. :doah: :haha: In the long run, I do end up disconnecting it as the sparks are too much to handle. :haha:

    Agreed!

I used to laugh at all the instructions for working on trucks that start with "disconnect the battery"....

Without going into detail, I've learned the hard way a few times. Now I disconnect the Battery before anything more serious than an oil change...

thats an auto zone starter, isn't it???and my starter advice is to install it as quickly as you can in minus 20 degree temps.DON'T use the shims that come with cheapassonlystorethathadone starter. and watch the electrical storm when you try to start it.

As far as I know... (look for me to be corrected shortly)

They are on the IFS trucks and I THINK are a direct fit.
(I haven't done the change yet, but I'm looking into it for this summer)

Verfiy with someone else (don't just trust me).... but I think you could just go get a starter for a '95 K1500 and be all set.

    **I hope I'm right**
