I have a question on the 3.6 low for the NP203 ( and where do I get it). Now if I put the 3.6 gears in the 203 will I get these options 1:1, 2:1, 3.6:1, and 7.2:1. Or do I only get 1:1, 3.6:1, and 7.2:1
I am trying to figure this doubler thing out. Thanks Dan

I think the 3.6 you're talking about is from Wagoner Machine(<a target="_blank" href=http://www.wagonermachine.com/>http://www.wagonermachine.com/</a>) You can check it out on there web page. The 3.6:1 replaces the 2:1 in the 203 but you still have the 2:1 in your 205. So you have 1:1, 2:1, 3.6:1 and 7.2:1.

    Dan,

At first when I saw this "low gear set" for the 203, I drooled a little.

But after thinkin' about it more, I think I'm actually happier with the doubler the way it is. Tell you why:

    1) The 203 LO of 2:1 is perfect for running all the easy parts of the trail in 2wd - which preserves steering ability. So, on the trail, I've almost always got the 203 in LO. (this 2wd LO is also great for backing trailers and such)

    2) Wnen I need the "double LO", I usually need 4wd, so it's kinda natural to just "toggle" the 205 - and leave the 203 alone.

    3) Running in sand over dunes, I like to run with the 203 in LO and when I start to get stuck I toggle the 205 from 2 HI to 4 HI. This can be done totally on the fly (long as the hubs are locked), and makes for an easy transition in and then back out. 4 Double LO is useless in the dunes....

    4) I don't think I've ever needed a lower ratio than the 4:1 the existing doubler provides. Of course I'm still running 35's, but I'm also running 3.73 axle gears! My truck already idles up vertical objects....... what would I do with 7.2 gears?!??!
