    Driveline \"clunk\" question. need help!

I am in the process of replacing my transmission mount in the morning. I got the mount today and am ready to install. I have another problem I have discovered. When I put my K5 in park
on a hill, it will not stay put! It shutters the gear and skips and rolls away. It is like it is trying to catch and can't. It will skip then roll, skip then roll. This is in park with the engine off. I have a good emergency brake thank goodness, but I want park to be PARKED!! help! Also, could this be in the gear select on the column linkage? At times the linkage tries to not let me take the key out of the ignition unless it is jammed up into park real well. A common GM problem in linkage, but I've never seen a truck try to roll!

    Well Neil.
My Haynes Techbook. In ch.5 under "Does not lock in park"
1 Check the parking linkage for:
    a) Linkage incorrectly adjusted.
    b) Bent or damaged actuator rod assembly
c)Actuator rod spring binding or improperly crimped.
    d) Actuator rod not attached to inside detent lever.
    e) Parking lock bracket damaged or not torqued prooperly.
    f) Inside detent lever not torque properly.
    g) Detent roller and spring assembly incorrectly installed or not torqued properly.
    h) Parking pawl binding or damaged.

I hope this helps out Cethern

It IS your linkage, and shifter not going all the way into park. I've been there, that's why I'm (usually) a parking brake freak. I'd bet it will go away after you swap your tranny mount, unless something IS bent. But if your tranny is far enough outta whack to cause that, I'd put a magnifying glass up to your motor mounts too.

    Ratch
