I just swaped in a sm465/np205 from a 700r4/np208. On the 208 I dropped the crosmember the recomended 1 inch whith the factory spacers, but is that needed with the np205?

You'll have to drive it and find out. Your rear driveline should be longer now so maybe you'll be OK.

It depends - you have to check your driveline angles and see.
I'm not a big fan of dropping the tcase - it's just kind of butch. But if you need to, you need to.
If it helps, I have a longbed pickup with a 465/205, about 6.5" lift, and did not need to.
