I have been having problems getting online for the last 2 days.

When I first got DSL I was disapointed at the speed. Seems to be just as slow as 56k and is often slower. Downloads kick butt, but for browsing the web, I didn't see an advantage.

Since I could not get on, I disconected the DSL and BEHOLD......

I can now surf the WWW faster than I ever could with this piece of crap DSL.

Ya know.. I've had dial-up from the start cause I live a long way from town and it seems that it is just as fast just to read stuff than from work with the T1 or whatever we have. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Ya, the only conflics I have with staying 56k is the phone line and download speed.

But dam it!!! I want to be able to surf at a reasonable speed too.

I'm not a big computer techi, but downloading to me means downloading files to my hard drive. Uploading too.

when you send a request to see a site your box sends a signal to the site(upload) telling it to download info.
    then site sends info(downloads)

Then WTF is the problem. If I want to upload/download files it is fine.

If I wnat to just surf, I am better off with the 56k.

    tech support...
    what a joke.
many many times I have talked to them, only to be forwarded at least 4 times per insodent.

I usually figure things out for myself before they even get a clue of what is really going on.

Cable here too...and it's very fast! I hate to admit it but I'm happy with it, I hate our cable company with a passion.

I refuse to get cable. Why should I over pay for a bunch of crap channels when I just watch the local stations anyway.

And on top of that, pay even more for my broadband connection. Just too much of a monthly bill for me.

All that money is better spent on my truck.

go HERE a few times and check your connection speed
different times of day until you get a fairly consistent idea where you stand.

your browser speed problem could be lack of memory or a cache size set too small or ....
this site is full of real good computer 'geeks' that are far more capable then I to point you in the right direction

    hope you find a resolution
