Leave it as is (sensor location that is). I doubt you'll run into any problems, since the exhuast that is shared from one cylinder bank to the other is negligible. The O2 sensor on the truck is "before" the y-pipe joins, right?

If you have smog Nazi's that are anal about the law, then they could bust you for true duals. They are illegal for your truck. The are illegal on mine, but the Nazi's have never bothered me yet. If you are just going to replace from the exhaust manifolds back you could just do a highflow 3" exhaust system. It is legal, and it yields about the same results as duals unless you plan on having a big high reving motor.

On my 87 truck the O2 sensor was in the driver's side manifold, so you shouldn't have to do anything to it.
