yes. he must die. dell should follow suit too.... I mean they build OK computers ( what company doesn't?) but its too much money for too little in my opinion, since I've never spent more then 600 bucks to build a high quality computer.

Re:

ya, but that's you building it. Dells are really good and don't cost much. I saw a HP (crap!) that had a 950mhz celeron, 128MB ram 17" monitor CD ROM (don't remember what speed) cheap puter speakers 20GB HD...don't remember about the rest of it, but you get the idea for 1200 bucks! Dell you can get a much better puter for cheaper

But yes, that guy is annoying

We use Dell at work and I only have one complaint. They only use Intel Processers. I'm an AMD guy and only use AMD when building PCs. Granted Intel is more stable but the cost is not worth the extra money. Especially for a slower PC.

Re:

How many folks can build there own computer, or for that matter want too....? Dells are good computers. Sure that guy is annoying but if they sucked they wouldn't be considered one of the best companies to buy from as far as home pc's go....

Re:

I'm a computer guy, so at home, I use hybrid's of parts from anywhere, and constantly upgrade peice by peice, but I almost always recommend Dell's to anyone that's shopping for home Desktop's, and Sony Vaio's for laptops (great value and slick looking machine).
Against my recommendation, I had a friend buy 12 E-machines with some crazy rebate making them super cheap (almost disposable cheap), and he's been using them for months with no issues and great performance.
I'm an AMD guy too, primarily because I wanted to boycott Intel's PIII PID...
But Dells are great business machines, regardless of the CPU, I'd still use them as much as possible for Desktops and Servers. Thier service and support is usually great (fast being the main thing). Out of a billion support/service calls I've had to make, I can only remember about 4 bad experiences (one of which I posted last week). Hold time and all the friggin prompts you have to go through are about as annoying the kid in the commercial... But for comparison, yesterday I spent a total of 75 minutes of a 90 minute call on hold with Apple support because they bungled a service job (on a cell phone too [IMG])! All my calls to Compaq have been ok, if a little tedious. IBM builds a pretty stout server, but I haven't used many of thier desktops, so no opinion on them from here...
