Ok, I have a 77k5 with No AC. I need to change my heater motor, but there are two choices available (chevy duty or any other site).... one has a 7/8" vent hole and the other 11/16" vent hole. Does it matter? Will either fit?

Either one will work, but if you really want to know, use a pair of calipers and measure the vent hole on your existing one to find out which one to order, cause it is 3/16 of an inch difference.

Thats odd, I've never seen a non a/c motor that had a vent hole in it. My dad has twonon a/c 79's in the driveway, neither have the hole, or the tube that fits in it that comes from the air dist. box. Mine has it, but ut has a/c. Are there really some non a/c trucks with the larger motor on them that need that vent tube?

My dads 77 has the larger one with the vent tube, although the actual tube is missing /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I have never seen a non a/c motor with a vent hole either. My last truck with a/c had a motor with a vent hole, but my new truck without a/c does not. Later

You are right, there should only be two blower motors, vented (AC or HD heater option) and non-vented, non-ac/non HD heater.

They may have changed the vent hole size through the years though for the AC/HD heater ones.
