The question isn't dumb, I am:

Will someone explain to me what a "shackle flip" is?

Your very rear springs hanger comes off the frame in a J shape. Then the spring shackle connects to the lower part of the J and goes upwards. Witht he shackle flip you replace the J bracket with one that has the shackle mounts pointing down so that the shackle hangs down rather than up. So technically you are getting about a 4" lift depending on how you do it.

In the tech section, Corey has a write up with pics so you can see stock and then you can see how he modified his stock bracket to do the "flip".. When I mention above that you replaced the J bracket, that is doing it the way ORD does it.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks man! Is this a "one-man" job or do I need to bribe some "friends" with beer and steaks?

I would probably bribe friends! :) You have to drop the gas tank, suspened the rear of the Blazer by jackstands or something and there is torching involved either way you do it.

Beer and STEAKS?? Oh you are definatly going to need more than one guy... right guys??? But I am sure there are some willing individuals to come help eat your steak I mean do the flip with you. Where do you live?? lol Heck my buds are lucky they get beer... I did the flip alone, but it couldnt hurt to have some extra hands, that always makes it more fun.

Steaks? Did I say steaks? I meant HOT DOGS! That's "meat" isn't it???

Actually, when someone helps me out with something that I can't handle alone, I'm usually pretty appreciative. And with plenty of venison in the freezer, I just fire up the grill and pay my debt! Also, since I was a "bachelor" until the age of 43, I CAN cook!

Thanks to all who replied with help on my original question!! (and to the peanut gallery too!) LOL

Hey Behometh, I did the ORD shackle flip by myself. I definately would recommend help from a friend, but you can do the job yourself. Check out my site for a write up on the ORD flip as well as the one on this site and off-road.com to get a feel for what is involved. Good luck
And Yes, I love steak and BEER!
