After having a DVR for a few weeks now, I have too say I like it alot !!!! I use it alot. It's great for recording those movies that come on late. Getting old, don't stay up too much past midnight anymore. Now I just set the DVR box and watch in in the afternoon when there isn't jack on that I like.

Did you buy one or get it from the local cable company?

So it's like a VCR but without tapes...:D

It sure would be nice to have the problem of having nothing to watch on TV in the afternoon.

It's a cable box with a built in hard drive.

Yes, but alot more user friendly. It works with the "Guide" for the cable. Just use the remote, find the show I want and click on the record button. No more programing when to start and stop recording, or what channel.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the technology and have been looking at them for myself. I'm always slow to adopt the new stuff, a result of working in the industry that I'm in I think.

Yeppers .. I just got one myself about 2 weeks ago. :cool1: I really like it too... I changed dish companies and got the DVR feature with the change, plus a handfull of channels that I wasn't getting.. for less money.

Now I just have it set to record all 4x4 TV's, etc and I don't worry about when they come on.. I just check the DVR and when they're there, I watch 'em. :cool1: I keep the ones I like, and delete the rest.

I also come in handy for those "Oh hooonnnnneeyyy" shots, when one look wasn't good enough.. ;) rewinde, play, back to live tv..

Now, if I can just keep the wife from filling up the 100 hours with scrapbooking shows, I'll be OK.

What the hell is with women and scrapbooking!? Usually I don't fall into the base man mantra, but SHOVE THAT CRAFTY CRAP RIGHT UP YOUR ASS!

Me mah cut up a lot of old photos and put them in lame settings. The odl photos showed hwo the house looked, what stuff we had, little details. Now it's just heads and bad stickers.

Can you download stuff off of those or not (burn it to dvd)? I've been thinking about one, and it would be great to be able to copy all of the kids shows and other stuff on at odd times.

Went we moved in January we got DISH TV and they gave us a free DVR. It's hooked up to 2 of the 4 TV's. I love it, the wife hates it cause I schedule stuff to record on the main tv when I'm gone at work. It automatically goes to that channel when it starts recording so she either stops recording my show (NOT) or goes to a different room

Mine doesn't do that. I can record something while I'm watching another channel.
