they are supost to get rid of it soo, aparently it got most of the problem cars off the road.

but this wont help me, i need it done befor the end of march, and i dont think I will pass

trucks ok but i got a cracked header, and i dont think that will fly, so i am eather going to try to say i swaped in a moter from 1974 (whicj i am doing soon)

We've had it here since 92 or so...total cash cow. We have to test every year, unless the car is new and then it's every two years (but the test cost is double...)

here they also only tst cars that are 20 years old and newer, so nw 84 have to be tested!!

it dumbest thing is there is no test for diesels, they check to see if you have any exaust leaks if not PASS!!

my budd said his uncles truck was so bad that on a GOOD day you couldent see two blocks behind him for the smle pass a ok!!!!

Here they test everything and there is no age cut off (or mine would be exempt already)

The diesel test is a pain in the arse too. Loaded dyno test that last a full three minutes and includes a full throttle run from 20km/h to 95 km/h. With a manual tranny my truck can be failed easily even though it's as clean running as a 6.2 can be. The tech's love to shift at 2000 rpm and then floor it in the next gear...so I get a big fat spike in opacity. Anything over 30% opacity and the truck fails.

With an auto it'd just shift down and spool up to redline before shifting again.

    I'm dreading July already...

I went straight to the manager last time before I even got in line. Told him the situation politely (after failing once for the reasons stated above).

He told me his best guy was working and he'd personally see to it that it was tested correctly. They did the test three times before they got passing numbers and I was on my way. The test is complete crap and doesn't begin to simulate real world driving conditions as it's meant to.

You can say that again Paulie! Ab rocks!
Case in point... I drove my S-Xtreme into the base last week... an RCMP cruiser followed me all the way, then when I turned into the mall, he kept going! Gotta love it. :)

Of course, I do have my new schmancy fenders on tho, but no rear bumper. :)
