easy way of identifying 28 vs 30 spline 10bolt front without pulling parts?

    Im sure there is a number cast on the axle somewheres so you can check date of manufacture? I mean they were only used from 88-91 AFAIK.

    The easiest and only way I know is to pull an axle and count the splines.

    it would be easier to pull the cover and pull the axle spider gears and count the splines.

    Did the number of splines change over the years ? (older vrs. newer)
    I am just curious , wouldn't want to buy parts if they are not a direct swap lol. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

    Yes, they changed in 88 I do believe to 30 spline, prior to that they were 28.

    They changed in 89 AFIK on Blazers.

    (I just double checked the specs page and that is what it says)
