Put an Edelbrock 1406 carb and 2101 intake on the 85 Chev, 305 engine. Now, when I start it up, it immediately goes to around 2200 rpm. After about a minute to a minute and a half, I hit the gas and it idles down to 600-700rpm. I know this is right for it to step down but isn't 2200 high? Can I adjust that anyway? Choke? It's really bothering me the way it sits up there and screams.

Yes it is adjustable but I can't help you with how with the Edelbrock. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
You should check on the sides of the carb, you should see a stepped plate with a screw that goes on it's edge, and holds the throttle open.
I know on the Q jet but not on this one sorry

the 1406 has an electric choke, i think you just have to loosen the screws holding the choke cap on and turn it one way or the other, experement with the engine running
