Is there anybody out there running The performer intake mani and cam on an 87 or later? If so, what sorta differences should I expect in performance over stock and any install tips and tricks will be helpful. But should be pretty straight forward.

Will work for beer, parts and tools.

I'm running this intake on a big block. I did a lot of changes at the same time as the manifold so I can't say how much difference the manifold made. I can however fill you in on my experiences with edelbrock. I'm not impressed with these guys!!! I have used their products for 20 years. I installed my intake with a 1/4" ratchet due to only having 0.070" of material around the boss for the front heater hose. The !@#$ boss cracked anyway. I sent an E-mail to edelbrock, no response, I sent a second E-mail to edelbrock, no response, I sent a third E-mail letting them know that I would not buy another one of their products, no response. I sent an E-mail to summit, where I bought the manifold, letting them know my problems with edelbrock. Immediate response! They were going to replace the manifold. I had already had it welded. I am not impressed with the customer service from these guys. The products work but their engineering leaves a lot to be desired. Buy a holley or Wieand(??) my $0.02.

I'm running thie Performer Intake/Cam/Lifters on my 85, and it makes a noticeable difference, quicker throttle response, better mileage, it "comes alive" quicker when passing. All in all, I'd say it's worth it.

LOL!! You failed to use proper measures for getting thier attention. You shoulda mailed it to them in a BODY bag. I guess everything has its pro's and cons.

Thanks, Pugs, for the info. Sounds liek what Im looking for. I've heard another say that the motor cam alive with this combo. I guess I'll be finding out for myself next week.

SPeaking of customer service. Im going to be ordering my diff parts from Jegs adn my engine accesories from Summit. Then I get to wait and see who delivers first. Im may just get it all at Summit.

I'm running the Edelbrock Multi Point Fuel Injection on my 89 K5 in which it replaced the original TBI. If you have an 87 K5 then you're running with the TBI fuel injection. Edelbrock MPI system does away with the TBI 2 injectors and replaces them with eight direct port injectors. Also an re-programmed computer chip is included with the kit and it utilizes your stock throttle body minus the two fuel injectors. I have installed this kit on my 89 and I must say it works real well and makes more torque. Now I installed this kit on a new Goodwrench engine with a stock cam so I'm sure if you use the recommended edel cam suggested by Edelbrock, you'll make lot's more torque than my 89 and that's what you want in a 4X4. Get their catalog via their web site ( www.edelbock.com) They have a combo package that will compliment this MPI system.....Det45

I have been dealing with Summit for years and don't have one single complaint about them. The prices and service are great. The guys in the tech department know their $h!t too. As for Edelbrock the only thing I don't like is their Performer carbs. I have a 750 cfm on my 73 p-up and think a Quad would have worked just as good.

I've dealt with both Jegs and Summit extensively. I prefer Summit but they both have good customer service. If I were you I would take a close look at the bosses on the manifold. If any of them seem marginal I would request a new one BEFORE it is cracked. By the way put away the BIG breaker bar
