I installed an electric fuel pump last year and left the manual pump still hooked up and inline. I was thinking of bypassing the manual all together and wondered if leaving the pump installed without fuel hoses attached would damage the manual pump. I was thinking of removing it and putting on a plate over the hole but thought that if my electric ever went out, I could, in an emergency, use the manual one again. Any thoughts...

How about you leave the manual one alone and save the electric for an emergency and for changing filters?

That's what I'm doing with mine.
