Hey ya'll.
In my fuse box I keep blowing the fuse for the dome/horn. The weird thing is when I blow this my radio cuts off. I checked the fuse for the radio but it's still good. Now to kick it all off, I can't even put a new fuse in the dome/horn insert with out either immeaditely blowing the fuse or the metal tab of the fuse melting. I've been driving around with no stereo, horn or dome light. It's really rather annoying. Anyone have any idea where to start looking for a (I assume) short. Thanks for the help ya'll!!

Yeah Mudfrog, same thing happened to me. It was the cig-lighter. i unplugged it from the back and -viola- fuses didn't blow and dome-horn-etc... worked. I haven't fixed cig-lighter yet but will replace it soon.

Good Luck

It's OK to not have the know-how... as long as you surround yourself with those that do.

Someone put a key in my lighter and it shorted all of those things. if you don't smoke and don't need it for a radar detector or anything, disconnect it!

Hey ya'll,
Thanks for the help. I just drove to my dads house and tried to charge my cell phone, and what do you know the cig-lighter didn't work. I'm going out right now to try it. Thanks for the help [IMG].

I unplugged the cig-lighter and everything is fine. I need the lighter to recharge my cell phone, can I just replace it or is there something in the wiring causing this?

just run your cig lighter straight to the battery(with a inline fuse)this way you can leave your phone in there charging without the truck on,if it isnt already always hot

Yeh, you can get replacements from your local autoparts (the heating element and the socket itself). But it might not be totally identical. - Steve

Probably will have to follow/trace the power wire from the back of the lighter to its source to see if there is a ground short........if not may just be your lighter socket. Cheap at any parts store.
