I have wires that run into my carb that also connect to an electrical post on top of the water jacket. I am re-wiring the thing with a PAINLESS SYTEM and this wire is not included, can I just hook it to another power source that is a keyed on source, or does this wire originate from the instrument panel or something. I have a 86 so its not computer controlled per say. I think the electronics going into the carb is called the Carburator Air fuel solenoid. Thank for the help guys, this thing is my last hurdle to having the wiring finished.

I believe that would be the mixture solenoid on your carburetor and it is computer controlled.

I think he actually has the "cold only" mixture control solenoid, which is solely temp controlled, hence the "sensor" on the water neck. (if I interpret "water jacket" right)

Computer controlled would have a bundle of wires running into the passenger side of the cab, not including the standalone truck ESC system used in some cases.

CCC carbs use TPS and a mixture control solenoid...not one or the other.
