I live in coastal North Carolina. During Hurricane season it is not uncommon for roads to flood and some of the roads around the hunting clubs resemble mud bogs. While working on the headlight circuit, I realized that the battery hot ties directly to the starter and all other loads including the ignition tie to this same point. Has this been a problem for anyone? In Fords the solenoid mounts above the finder well. I could install one in the K5 to keep the hot wires higher up, but if it is not a problem why bother.

You can install a remote solenoid on the chevy just like fords. I have one on my K5 because of the heat generated by the headers causing the starter to blank out when it's hot. Real simple. Never had water problems with it.
