Okay, the truck is an 82 chevy longbed 4x4. The stock motor was a 305, but the guy said he swapped it for a motor out of an 86 2x4. Being a 2 wheel drive truck I believe the new motor swapped in is a 305 also, is there an easy way to visually confirm what the motor actually is? Short of finding the numbers on the back of the block?

finding the #'s isnt too hard. Usally they can been seen with little more than some scraping and a flashlight, and about 5 mins. This would be the most accurate way without tearing it down
