I have a 1974 k5 blazer with a 3 year old crate 350. Its fan and belts have always made a little squeaking sound, but recently it has become worse and is accompanied by a sort of grindy, sandpapery, rough sound. It is coming from around the fan or belts or somewhere up in that area. Im unsure if i should even worry, or what i should do. The engine runs fine, im just unsure as to whether or not i should attempt to get it fixed or just understand thats what comes with a 28 year old truck.

You could start by removing all the belts and letting the engine run briefly and listen. If you don't hear any noises, then put the water pump belt back on, then listen again. Put the P/S belt back on so on so forth.

That jeep thing? Yah I understand it....... Like my Blazer? http://community.webshots.com/user/blazerk5
