Sometimes when i drive my 88 K5, it makes this noise. It sounds like maybe the fan is just barely hitting something metal. It only lasts for maybe a second or so, and then fades off. Its not very loud, and i have no idea what it is. It does it randomly, in hot or cold weather, in all gears, and even when im at a complete stop or not accelerating or breaking. Is there any way my fan could have gotten out of alignment when the engine was replaced? Please feel free to make suggestions.

Just a thought, but it could be one of your heat shields on your exhaust manifolds. This drove me nuts for a couple of weeks on my Jimmy once, and I just bent it a little until it touched my plug wire and it went away. Just a thought. Good luck.
