We want to undertake an engine painting foray on our 76 K5. Does anyone have any hints for a successful paintjob? Also, any special hints about priming and prparing the surfaces would be great. Also, any particular brand of paint would be great. One last question, does anyone make a Chevy orange in a can that can be used with a paint brush? Everything I have seen to date involves a spray can. Seems as though a paintbrush would be easier in some instances. Thanks!

use the stuff in the purple bottle, "Castrol super Clean" to clean the block... DO NOT GET ON ALUMINUM!!!!!

Then Use Brake parts cleaner to clean the rest, then paint... use a wire brush with the castrol super-clean and it will eat the grease away!!!

Use high temp engine paint, paint several coats, allow to dry in between...
