I was looking through the RPOs for my Z34 Monte and came across the code for a 2.8L V6, MFI, turbo. The code for this was LG9. My S-10 Blazer has a 2.8L TBI in it, so I was figuring that this might be a bolt in since they were the same displacement and size. Does anybody know where I might be able to get my hands on on eof these or has anybody ever heard of this? The LG9 was also the code for the 305 in some GM trucks, but it is also for the 2.8L turbo. It would be sweet to have a turbo in my truck.

You have to be real careful when trying to swap rwd and fwd GM motors. i'm pretty sure that on a couple of motors (the 2.8 rings a bell) the bellhousing pattern is different. In other words, you'd never get a RWD transmission to bolt up. You MIGHT be able to change jsut the turbo specific stuff though. That 2.8 was generally regarded as a POS, (especially in teh heavier blazers) although my sisters beretta GT never came apart.

Yeah, I was worried about the FWD/RWD thing. My 2.8 is a POS, but I didn't know if the turbo helped it out any. My 2.8 has 160k miles on it now and I have never done any work to it.

Why don't you look for a newer 3.4 in the 96 and up Camaros? 200 hp would make that little S-10 scoot! No turbo to worry about and its a RWD motor.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I also heard that you could get a 3.4L crank, pistons, and connecting rods and put them in my 2.8. Just bore it out so the pistons will fit and everything else will bolt in. I read this on a website the other day. They said that it will put out more than 200hp, but I don't know how true that is. I might try it, though.

I never hear dof a turbo 2.8.. I do agree with Trusty and you should go with 3.4 but I am not 100% sure they ahev a 3.4 with the 2.8 bell housing bolt pattern. However the Olds Cutlass Supremes had a 210HP 3.1....

You can buy new 3.4's from GM that will fit your S-10. Check out this link: <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?action=prod_detail&catid=120&pid=116>http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?action=prod_detail&catid=120&pid=116</A>

The camaros were rwd so the bellhousings should be the same...on a side note the 3.4's are 160hp the 3.8's have the 200 hp but they are a 90 degree v-6 not a 60 degree like the 2.8/3.1/3.4.
