I'M ABOUT TO SWAP A 350 TPI INTO A 84 K5 AND I WAS WONDERING IF ANYBODY OUT THERE HAS DONE THIS AND DID THEY COME ACROSS ANY PROBLEMS OR ANYTHING THAT SLOWED THEM DOWN. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT. ALSO CAN YOU RUN A OPEN ELEMENT AIR FILTER AND DOES IT CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS. THE COMPUTER WAS SAID TO BE REPROGRAMED BY THE GUY WE BOUGHT THE 350 TBI FROM AND HE SAID IT WILL RUN BETTER WITH ALL THE POLLUTION STUFF ON IT. IS ALL OF THIS TRUE ABOUT THE POLLUTION STUFF?

Hey you dont need to Yell (turn off the caps)
Yes it is true about the pollution stuff. The engine needs all those sensors to run. it will not run very well if at all without them. To make it run properly you need the complete wireing harness and all the sensors for the FI system.
You will also need the fuel pump and return lines that go to the tank.
Dont mount the computer under the hood. It is not sealed or watertight. Mount the comp in the cab. The stock location is behind and above the glove box.
If it is a TBI you can run an open element air filter
    They wont fit a TPI

You need to talk to BlazzinOr. He has done the TPI swap and knows all the details.

Your post is confusing - you reference TPI but then say TBI later on. Seems by your 'open element air cleaner' you have TBI - you can clarify this by telling us if it is a 'carburetor looking' setup. If so, TBI it is. Either way, the changeover is relatively [IMG] straightforward and has been done by many folks here, TPI and TBI. Nothing too difficult that you can't overcome with posting questions and doing research ahead of time, especially if this is your daily driver.
